Overcome your fears and sing with joy!

 

In this workshop, ‘Singing For Beginners’ the focus will be on overcoming your fears of expressing yourself and discovering how to sing with confidence. In all my years of teaching I have met many people who say that they ‘can’t sing’. But I have not met a single person who has told me that they don’t want to sing. So what is it that holds us back? What is it that stops us from singing with complete joy in our hearts?

 

This workshop will give you insight into what is holding you back and learning concrete tools to move beyond these blocks and to sing with abandon. You will learn effective exercises to feel comfortable in your body when singing. You will also discover how having an emotional connection to your voice can breathe much joy, fun and laughter into your life.

All of these exercises will be explored with lots of fun and wholesome SINGING!

Workshop overview:

  • Have fun exploring your voice in a supportive, warm and encouraging environment

  • Learn different methods and approaches to overcoming nerves and anxiety when singing

  • Experience singing with confidence and joy

  • Feel comfortable in your body when singing by experiencing a relaxing and grounding physical warm up

  • Learn how to do an effective and efficient vocal warm up to free up your voice

  • Discover simple yet highly effective vocal techniques and use your voice in a safe and healthy way

  • Explore a variety of ways in which you can play with your voice in a fun way and enjoyable way

  • Lots of wholesome Group Singing – in unison (everyone sings the same part) and some simple harmonies

  • Everything is taught by ear – no need to read music or have any previous musical background

  • Class size limited to 12 people

FAQ’s:

  • What is the format of the workshop?

 

The majority of the workshop will be group singing. There will also be small group and pair work throughout the day. There will also be time allocated for individual* singing. The amount of time dedicated to this will depend on the needs of the group.

 

* I highly encourage everyone to be open to and to try the exercises that are presented. However, it is important to emphasise that everything is always optional and not an obligation. Especially with individual singing – and you can always decide on the day, in the moment. It’s also wonderful to simply watch and support others.

 

  • What experience do I need to do this workshop?

None! There is no need to be able to read music or to have any prior experience. All songs are taught by ear.

 

  • What do I need to bring?

Loose clothing and some water. No notes are needed, it is all experiential.
